The Covid-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges for India's trucking community. As truck drivers continued transporting essential goods, many faced uncertainty around movement restrictions, health risks, financial pressures, and the wellbeing of their families. In 2020, a dedicated helpline was operated to connect directly with truck drivers and understand the difficulties they were experiencing. The initiative went beyond receiving calls. It created opportunities for personal conversations that brought attention to the everyday realities of drivers and their families during one of the country's most difficult periods. These conversations also helped shape the direction of later community initiatives under Ustaad.
